UBBC team visits Kyiv as Ukraine expects more British companies to engage.

Baroness Nicholson (Chair of UBBC), Christophe Michels (MD of UBBC) and Jon Allen (MD of G4S risk Management) made an extensive trip to Kyiv to meet leading Ukraine officials and politicians on 10th- 15th October. The discussions were very positive in terms of opportunities for British and International companies to help rebuild Ukraine, now and in the medium term.


The visit was organised with the support of Dmitro Natalukha MP, Chair of the economics affairs committee, parliament of Ukraine, and his wife Alona Shrum MP, and included many high-profile meetings including this sequence of events:


  • Meeting with Oleksandr Kamysin, Minister of Strategic Industries.

  • Meeting with Gennadiy Chyzhyko, Chairman of the Ukrainian Chambers of Commerce & Industry.

  • Evening Reception at the CEO Club of Ukraine attended by Sergey Tsivkach, CEO Invest Ukraine.

  • Meeting with Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, and Mustafa Nayyem, Head of State Agency for Restoration of Ukraine

  • Meeting with Mykola Solshyi, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine

  • Meeting at the Verkhovna Rada with Ruslan Stefanchchuk, (Speaker of Ukrainian Parliament)

  • Evening Reception at the British Embassy in Kyiv and meeting with newly appointed British Ambassador and the Mayor of Kyiv.

  • Meeting with Victor Liashko, Minister of Health, and Oleksandr Azarkina, Deputy Minister of Health.

  • Meeting with Oleksandr Fedoryshyn, acting Head of State Property Fund of Ukraine Minister

  • Meeting with Volodymyr Demchuk, Director of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine

  • Meeting with Col Kovelenko Hennadiy, Deputy Minister of Defence.

  • Meeting with Oleksandr Ilkov, Director General, Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.

  • Meeting with Tetiana Berezhna, Taras Kachka and Volodomir Kuzyo, Deputy Ministers of the Economy.

Baroness Nicholson, Chair of UBBC said’ The Ukrainian officials all provided us with a warm welcome and strongly urged British companies to come to Ukraine, as there are many opportunities for reconstruction and to build back better, now and in the future. We plan to return to Kyiv very soon and expect to take a bigger group of UBBC members, to explore tangible business opportunities with the Ukraine Government and business leaders.
