UBBC and Bath Spa hosts visiting Rivne University from Ukraine

Professor Ian Gadd of Bath Spa University hosted a visiting group of academics from the International University of Humanities in Rivne, during the week of June 3rd.

 

UBBC hosted a session of the academics at the Royal Over-Seas league on 6th to meet UBBC members and discuss collaboration with Bath Spa.

 

Baroness Nicholson welcomed the visitors and explained about her work with AMAR Foundation with Ukrainian children in Romania , Christophe Michels also attended.

 

Professor Ian Gadd explained that Bath Spa University and other UK Universities are undertaking twinning activities with Ukrainian Universities that is leading to collaboration now and in the future. The benefits of which include keeping the integrity of the Ukrainian higher education system, preventing brain drain, and helping Universities in Ukraine to emerge from the crisis with added resources, skills, and robust international experience.

 

The benefits are two-way in that Bath Spa is able to develop research and teaching collaborations with academic staff in Ukraine, and extend its international reach.


The collaboration covers a three-year action plan that involves:

  • sharing good practice in research, strategy, and governance

  • increasing teaching and research cooperation in education and humanities

  • developing new collaborations, e.g. an international centre for peace

  • develop new funding bids

  • supporting career development at IUEH through training, leadership workshops, and mentoring

  • Engaging more students in cooperation.

  • The use of remote digital technologies to run projects.

·       Professor Ian Gadd, Head of Development for European Projects, Bath Spa University

·       Julia Coats, Head of Immigration Compliance and Advice, Bath Spa University
